I've raised baby kingsnakes up on Sani Chips into adulthood. They have swallowed lots over time, though only a few chips at any one given feeding. These snakes lived a long time (15 plus yrs).

Sani Chips are little squares of hardwood. They stick to anything wet. Because boas have much larger heads than kingsnakes, there is more of a chance of a chip lodging in the mouth and staying there. If using any small particulate substrate, I would inspect the boa's mouth for lodged particles periodically.
