My new tricolor honduran

scaledverts Sep 17, 2009 06:56 PM

I picked up this guy because I liked his light hypo look and I personally am a big fan of tricolors. He also has an interesting dot just behind his head. What do you guys think extremeish? I like him either way but I wanted to get your thoughts.

Thanks,

That is one nice hondo. I would say he is on the extreme side, that nuchal spot is cool as well. Nice pick up.

That is one sharp looking light tricolor hypo!, but it really isn't what is considered an "extreme" hypo.

In order for them to really be classified as an extreme, the dark melanin must be so far reduced that the bands become a VERY, VERY light silvery/gray, ruby-red eyes, and in most cases zero tipping whatsoever as well, although there are some rare exceptions to this, especially with tricolors.

This is a good example of an extreme in anybody's book.

Doug is dead on that the color or shade of the band would have to be in the silver/grey area...many of them even exhibit very light greenish variation and extremes are usually has that "neon-ish" look in natural light.

And the most important thing is having a pair of TOTAL ruby red eyes! Your hypo tricolor is a real nice hypo but not an extreme, given the bands are too dark and eyes are black...nonetheless, a nice looking one.
