What is this thing?

AnthonyCaponetto Sep 18, 2009 03:59 AM

Had 7 eggs, 4 went bad.

Of 3 remaining, no butters, but I have at least two of these...can't see the head on the 3rd.

This one is a runt (came out way early), but the other one like it is normal size.

Interesting tidbit: Same "light colored normal" that produced the light colored sables a couple years back.

Anyone seen anything like this? Me confused...like a spider's head on a woma's body (no white, not quite as reduced).

Prediction- Incubation stress

But raise them and breed them...only way to be sure.

But almost all of my normal girls have something "marker-ish" about them, including the mother of this clutch. I don't have any pics of the mom, but she has no "alien eyes" and a moderate amount of granite pattern on her sides.

Even so, this still reminds me of the weird incubation-issue babies that you see people posting every season...but I don't know if I remember seeing any with a spider head pattern?

Anyone have any pictures of weird babies that have popped out due to incubation issues? Just trying to see if the head pattern is typical of something like that.

He sure is a cutey. I'll help you by taking such a troublesome runt off your hands

Very interesting pattern. Perhaps a strange enchi or woma?

I don't know, but I would breed the same animals back to each other this year and see if it happens again. Then line breed and see if there is a super form. You may have some new genetics to work with which would be very cool.

These weren't enough to make me think anything, but not exactly typical sables either?

I don't know if it's an incubation temp fluke or somthing else going on here, but I would sure be setting them up as a dinkin project. Good luck!

BTW, those sables from the same mom as really nice!

Though incubation stress definately seems most logical. strange pattern, small size, bony defects common with incubator stress, but the clear belly is something typical of a morph, and not really at all related to incubation stress. Just my thoughts
