Rat breeders

I know that there are many people that build their own racks here on ks and I know that a lot of people know how to make things work for a much cheaper price without having to cut the quality of the racks. My question if where do you get your water stoppers for rat racks.

Thanks,
Matt

set yourself up an automatic watering system with drinking valves.

filling up water bottles uses time that can be used else where.

find a wholesaler and buy from them. If you count your time as money spent (and you should) added to the cost of supplies it pretty much is about the same price. For instance when I was breeding my own rodents I was spending roughly $250/month on food and bedding and 4-6 hrs per week cleaning cages @ $15/hr that's $240-$360/month added to cost of supplies. Now that I'm buying rodents from a supplier, my cost is between $450-$550/month (goes up when babies are around but not by much). The difference between the two is very little when compared like this. However, I had the potential to produce alot more rodents than I could use with my set-up. The problem was the people I had buying from me all got out of the hobby so the full cost was put on me and if that's the case, I'd rather be spending time with the family or messing with the snakes than cleaning rat cages.
