Nothing like alittle Lavender..........

byron.d Sep 19, 2009 05:33 PM

Got the hook-up on 2.2 of these. I hope they turn out as nice as my adults....

These were hand picked for dark contrasty color. My adult are pretty cool in hand, but these and some yearling hets I have are just terrors. Constantly biting and raising hell. I dont handle my snakes much, but have gone out of my way for some of these TX Rats and it doesnt seem to make one bit of difference. Just mean snakes..... But I still love 'em.

Thanks for looking.

Nice!,........so are the pupil's deep ruby-red like you would expect to see on other lavenders, or T-positive animals?

thanks!, ~Doug

Yeah, the pupils are very dark, and in most cases look like that of a normal if you're not checking them in bright light - not that most Texas Rats will let you get anywhere near that close!

HAHAH!,...man, I hear THAT!.....

Yeah, I have a leucistic Tex. that has EXTREMELY deep ruby-red eyes. I wasn't even aware of it until many months later!..LOL!

Most forms of so-called "pink-eyed" Texas rat's are very obvious looking, but mine is really weird. As a matter of fact, I'm sure the guy that sold it to me was totally unaware of the deep red eyes as well. In most lighting conditions, they look like normal dark eyes, but when looked at real well, you can definitely see they are not normal.

Anyway, those Lav's you picked up are really cool, and as you mentioned, it will be interesting to see what they become as they gradually mature.

best regards, ~Doug
