Excellent snake. These are impressive herps. At a show, about a decade ago, there was a guy who asked if could put one of his snakes down on one of our tables. We said sure. He comes back with this massive spilotes. No enclosure, just this huge snake. We are all like WTF. He say's this snake will just lay here. Once I put him down, he'll not move. I'm thinking, yeah right, next person that gets to close this snake is gone, or someone is getting nailed.
Well, he puts this snake down and for about 2 hours this snake never moved. It kept it's head slightly elevated the entire time. Hundreds of people had passed this snake with many right on top of it while browsing the table. It was so still and majestic looking there were many that thought it was stuffed. Guy comes back, picks up his snake, and says thanks.
I'll never forget that snake.
That is a spectacular tiger rat! Looks like it is of CA descent, which seems to be very rare these days. Is he cb or wc? Either way, big congrats on such a beautiful Spilotes.
Thanks guys. He's birthplace is still unknown. I bought him from a woman who's had him for 2 years. She got him when he was just a baby. I don't think she realized exactly how amazing her spilotes actually was. He has SO much yellow on him. I'll try to take some more photos of him this week and put them up.
