LeoGeo Breeding ???

LeoGeoKing Sep 16, 2003 10:52 PM

I have a male and female that are well over 70 grams a peice.I have had them together for months now and they still have not breed yet.I know you can mess with the temperature to make them breed but all my other Leos just do it on there own. What should i do to get this cute couple to breed?

Here's the male...

All you need to do is turn down the lights, spark a few candles, and get some barry white playing on your home stereo system and witness the magic. No really though, I've had success with dropping the enclosure temperature by about 8 to 12 degrees for about a month to simulate the winter or cold season. I gradually raise the temp back to normal over a span of a week, and my male goes nuts. His tail will start to shake like a rattlesnake, and he will go to town. Or maybe your boy is just in the dog house, make sure he isn't staying out too late at night at the sports bar.

Thanks for the input. How often do you drop the temps?I mean you dont just drop it 10 degrees all at once, correct?

I'd drop it down over a week period or so from 85s to mid 70s. Make sure there is still a warm area for them to get some belly heat though. Then keep the temp low for another 3-4 weeks and increase it again over the space of a week or so. I've had friends use this method in the past to give their females a break when they didn't have room for another enclosure. I'm also in the process of dropping my temps so that my females get a break over the fall/winter period. I'll start warming things up again about Feb/March time.
