Hamm Show (its the euro daytona)

brick1 Sep 21, 2009 08:52 AM

here is a few pictures from the Hamm show in germany 10 days ago. It was an awesome experience. and luckily i snagged myself a breeders pass so could get in early before the public. By 11am you could not move!!
Pretty dissapointed at the lack of rainbows, i will make sure i fix that next year though
Did involve 2 x 27hr boat trips, and 2 x 6hr drives, all in the space of a weekend, with no sleep.
Also having to fit my training in around, midnight runs thru german truck stops is something i wont forget in a hurry

brick1 Sep 21, 2009 02:34 PM

coconut crab or not, that was one weird looking animal. And the skinks were awesome, pics were of an anery and caramel albino both from crystalpalacereptiles a british company.
I was actually pretty dispointed with ukpythons and also prestige reptiles. Were hoping to see a super zebra and albino there, but no luck.
Also didnt take that many pictures, was too busy running around checking everything out!!

Very cool! Thanks for sharing the pictures. Did you go home with anything?

was very happy to not come home with anything. Firstly i couldnt really afford anything at the moment, and i dont have any room or plans for anything else. Other than holdbacks, and maybe 1 or 2 animals from the US next year. I have enough ingredients to play with for years to come!!!

It is nice to see a show with a real crowd.

brick1 Sep 21, 2009 02:20 PM

not sure what its like at the US shows Jeff, but this was crazy. I had been warned it would be packed. But after turning up at 2am, and seeing where it was going to be i had my doubts. Was a tiny little town in the middle of germany, but by 11am, was people everywhere from all around europe. You could not move in there.
Some US breeders were there, bob clark and mike wilbanks and then glades herps in the venomous room.

bob and make made it to germany to sell reptiles but yet were not at the daytona show wich is supposed to be the holy grail of the US reptile shows.

brick1 Sep 21, 2009 03:31 PM

with the exchange rate as it is, if your a big enough company and have the logistics to do it. I think these shows would do very well for the US guys. I know bob comes over many times during the year, and sells many animals to the UK on these trips.

silly money always playing a factor in things these days lol.

Jeff Clark Sep 21, 2009 06:05 PM

Florida's new "reptiles of concern" laws kept many of the breeders of Retics and Burms away from the Daytona Expo.

TimS Sep 21, 2009 07:54 PM

yeah i guess. I never looked at it that way, i totally forgot about that. This is why i am dying to NARBC Tinley park. love that show its so nice and cozy lol

Cool pics, thanks for sharing.

So you think you'll be up and running enough to vend next year? Cool but go slow, they don't always produce as much as you think or want.

hey dave,
Ah thats the plan, but i would really only need 5 like brbs, to make me the biggest rainbow vendor there im loving the snakes for what they are now. Any babies will be just a major bonus. Im more worried about my holdback list, given what will be getting paired up!!
