Black milks hatching

robhaneisen Sep 21, 2009 12:51 PM

Here's a pic of a clutch of 12 black milks hatching. Laid on July 11, and hatched Sept. 18-21. San Antonio Zoo stock are the parents. These hatchlings already have some decent black tipping and are pretty big.

Looks like you had GREAT luck on those!

Hopefully you'll have a good ratio of each sex this time.

Very nice! Mine just started hatching today.

Way to go Nate! I figured you had to be close because our clutches were laid on about the same date. We should have just enough time before Manchester to get at least one meal in 'em!

Thanks! It's quite a relief that they're hatching this week, wasn't sure whether to expect them 80ish days from when they were laid, or from when they should have been laid. Luckily, it was the latter. Speaking of luck, that's pretty cool that you plan on keeping the survivor of that clutch of seven... I wonder when it will hatch.

Congrats Rob. They look great!

Thanks Dave. How are your black milk clutches coming along? I can't remember if yours were laid before or after mine.

PS find any more easterns in your house?

Dave:

No easterns yet in the basement. I suspect there are some hiding in the garage. I have to move some firewood in there and I've already found a couple garter snakes - they are all over my yard and in my gardens.

Now is about the time of year I usually see some eastern milk hatchlings so I keep my eyes open when I do laundry! For some reason I always find them on the floor in front of the washer.

Good luck waiting on that clutch. They must be denting soon.

Rob,
Great looking batch of Black milks. Nice job, again.

Here is a female I got from you two winters ago. Dirty looking now but tipping up nicely as the months crawl on. It'll be nice to see her fully black.
