That is great

Seems again to be another article based on opinion and no facts, even the so called senior herpetologist is speaking on ill gathered information...and then again why would he say things like that?

Maybe we should contact National geographic before they air this segment and ask them to at least give air time to the facts of this issue, I will try to see if I can find out who to talk with.

Thanks for bringing this out Dave.

Here's an e-mail address for National Geographic. These channels/organizations like Nat Geo and Discovery are helping the AR wackos by simply parroting corrupt/lying scientists. They do no fact checking or investigation whatsoever. Please e-mail Nat Geo at:

Oreilly Factor is going to have a story right now. Probably based on fuzzy facts at best.

Shoot, I saw your response too late to catch the show. Anyone see it? I can't imagine it would be anything close to "fair and balanced."

Sad how O'Reilly guy airs these inflammatory, one-sided stories (ie, "spin" without allowing honest reptile experts to point out the facts or at least question the garbage science and speculation. For God's sake, this is a guy who's main schtick is "no spin." Talk about hypocrisy.

It was a quick segment, but it spoke of the african rock python, and how they will "lunge at you " when you pass by them ? They also had a video of a retic when they were reporting this story. How is this news worthy ? At least show the proper python.

Has there been documented proof that Boas have been found down there. It wouldn't surprise me, but I haven't read or heard anything about Boas until this article.

Should we bombard Nat. Geo. with e-mails to retract or subtract Boas?

I believe there is a small colony of "wild" boas in south Florida:

http://docs.google.com/gview?a=v&q=cache:Zl4VbsDzOwwJ:www.se-eppc.org/wildlandweeds/pdf/Summer2006-Warren-Bradley-p16.pdf boa constrictors deering&hl=en&gl=us

IMO, we should bombard Nat Geo requesting they retract the ENTIRE article. The whole article is garbage.

First of all everyone has an opinion on the big snakes in the Everglades whether it is in our favor or against us. I know Ken Krysko and I have snake hunted with him on many occassions in the sugar cane fields and all around the Everglades. I am planning a trip down with his father right now. He has spent more time down there then just about anyone. I personally do not agree with some of the things he has said, but those are his opinions. Most of what is being said in my opinion is being blown out of proportion to fuel their argument that these snakes are bad, bla bla bla. Unfortunatly most of what the media publishes is more or less convincing the general puiblic that these animals are bad. People that are elected into public office tend to go with the majority, after all those are the people who elected them. I think people should be allowed to own whatever they like as long as they can care for it porperly for its life time. Just be prepared to fight for your rights. The roughest road is yet to come.

As for the boas that they claim are down there.

YES, there is an established group of redtails down there that have been there for years. There are refered to as the Deering Estates Boas, because that is where they are found, in Deering Estates (I may have misspelled Deering, could be Dearing). Some people believe they originated from the Letica Boas. They are alive and well down there. Sometimes you will see them for sale that were caught down there.

For a country based on freedom, we shouldn't have to be going through all of this. So hopefully we will win and be able to keep our snakes. Good luck to everyone.
