mconstantbabble Sep 21, 2009 07:41 PM

Hello guys...I have a lot of experience with Waters, but was curious on the temperament/care needs of Yellow Monitors.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

most people that have actually kept them as I did will tell you good luck seeing them. If you provide the right environment and substrate for hiding they will. If you keep them in an enviornment where there is no hide like newspaper and no hides you will see them. Even Mike of Mikes monitors had them as a project and then moved away from them. They are not very rewarding if you care to interact with them or even see them lol Very pretty adults I had my paur forever but no breeding in sight then I moved on as well

I keep one of these guys. On a good week, I'll see him daily from about 6 am to 12 pm, then in a burrow it goes for the day.
I recently was able to gain its trust, but then lost it once after I introduced it to natural uvb. I'm now starting back at square one since I messed up trying to take it a step further after luring it onto my arm with food. My melinus is not agressive in anyway, and majority of the time I just view him crawling around, trying to climb everything. Like mentioned above, this species might not be very rewarding due to the fact that they can't seem to handle little mistakes well.

Thanks for the info guys, they aren't for me, beautiful, though...there's a baby at the Cincinnati Zoo that's a stunner!
