Heating racks

Boafanatix Sep 23, 2009 03:48 AM

I recently purchased 3 used Animal Plastics economy racks from the last Repticon show .I would like to house ball pythons and leopard geckos in these racks. The only problem I have run into was that they were built with no routed place for heat tape or heat cable. What would be the best/safest way to heat these racks.
Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks
Chad

Flexwatt belly heat is the best way to heat these. Just tape it to the floor of the rack with aluminum tape. The tubs don't fit that tightly so routing is not needed.

Is there a way to wire the flex watt together or will it all have to be seperate cords and plugs?I have a big apple thermostat and it only has 3 recepticale plug ins.

Thanks

Sure you can wire them in parallel. Just make sure your not wiring together a Watt load to high for your thermostat. If it has three plugs and did you say you had three racks you can wire each with they're own plug and plug all three into the thermostat with no problem. Basically just daisy chain from one strip to the next and so on ending with a plug. Very easy and safe.
