A tiny lil Baby black throat monitor. I recently got into monitors and they are a real joy to have. Feeding cost and maintanence much higher than keeping snakes but well worth it. Hard for me to capture its bright colors with my camara skills but he or she has striking colors in person. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks for looking...

Several inches of sandy soil to burrow in,basking temps of 120 degrees ,ambient temps of 70 to 95,varied wholefood diet, and a secure cage that keeps in humidity and heat well.

Those are a great monitor to work with, one of my favorites.

Get a copy of the Savannah book by Bennett and Ravi, available here on the classifieds, it covers monitor husbandry in detail, and every bit applies to that species. 95% of the book applies to every other monitor species as well.

We also have extensive Blackthroat info on our site, in the FAQ and caresheet section, take a look.

Best of luck.

That's about the prettiest V.a.ionidesi I've seen!
Sulferboy nailed what you need to provide for it to grow well.

Only thing I can think to add is, a room sized enclosure from 4.5ft onwards and lots of things to climb! Enjoy
