Ok, what gives?

I have this beautiful amel striped yearling male. After feeding him the other night I put him in his cage and as he was gliding against my hand after setting him down he started bumping/pulsating or what ever you call it. This would only happened while I was touching him. I saw this on a documentary about snakes once, but I can't remember if it was a fight thing or a mating thing... and if it's a mating thing, is a yearling old enough to be doing this? And, is this breeding season?

I forgot to mention that the jerking/pulsating/bumping thing was done if a forward motion as he slowly glided (seemingly) contently along... not to the side like they do when they don't want to you to touch them. He's just never done it before and it has created curiosity.

Thanks,

I'm not sure what the 4 types are right off the top of my head, but snakes have 4 types of movement. Sidewinding, concertina, serpentine and i think, caterpillar. It could be the concertina way of moving, they scrunch up their bodies and then stretch them out. They normally do this when they are in a tight spot, not enough room to do the normal serpentine motion (the one you refered to).

just a theory,

I wish I would have gotten it on video. He was just moving forward in a regular serpentine manner but with a pulsating/jerking/bumping action as he moved along. I thought he was doing a mating dance, or war dance, at first.
