of large eastern milks, here is a sweet trio from joecop and snake_bit (Joe Purdum and Doug Lindsay) that just may give the monster island milks a run for their money.

This is an 08 trio from MD and they are all eating multiple fuzzies each meal. All are very clean and have nice shades of red.

Who said L.t.t grow slowy?

Male

Here is his in my hand for size reference

Female 1

Female 2

Here's a pair from NY that are 4 years old and should breed next year. Not much larger than those 08 MD's!

Male

Female

Hope you enjoyed!

Dave, those 08's hatched out on September 2nd to be exact and just turned 1 year old!! I bet that male in hand will be a "monster" in no time and I cannot wait to see it. Glad you like them my friend. He also was the largest out of the egg at 11" long.

11 inches at hatch?....hmmm....I gotta measure more stuff....sounds pretty good sized.....I did measure a yellow belly ball that just died at about a day or three old...it was 18 inches , and I thought that was actually BIG for a ball........

....problem is with coastals, easterns, reds, amaura, pales etc etc etc...they will grow like all that for a year or maybe two...then bam...they just stop growing at times.....I have reds here , most are not the size of these 08 easterns but at least one is...I gotta go look at them, the pales grew really fast for a year....yet they are now going on three I think ? and are like 26 ? 28 inches? as thick as my pinky finger....?....how big do they get usually???......coastals...same deal....my St Mary's grew well, are almost three? or are three....they are good sized and big as a finger or more....but the other OC temps the male is big but female stopped growing and I didn't breed them, she is like pinky or more thick....so what's she do for me? in Feb she laid 8 eggs and 6 months later she lays 9 more....not good, no male ever with her and I never wanted her to lay till next year.......they are all about done growing I think....all at 30 inches and under, finger thick, (pick a finger, all different)...

....I had an eastern milk, male, from 1989 till 1999...he grew the first year or so, he was 2 or three when caught....he never grew after that...once he hit about 3 3-1/2 foot he just stayed that way......just like the female here now...3 1/2 foot and she was here 3 years now....(only Ltt I got here).....(male died in 1999 after a female was found under same rock for him to breed.....10 years , same rock, and he didn't help me out, that female is long gone too, )...

....how big are pales? reds? supposed to be?.....

I remember going to the Orlando show many years ago and picking up a 3 ' GENTILIS! Alas, before cameras. Pales max out about there, reds a little bigger but the Eastern is "the milk of milks".

Dave, nice looking t. triangulum you have there. Really alot of white in that Eastern.

Jeff, Lampropeltis triangulum triangulum the milks of milks? Really? To each his own I guess. But I bet you have a few Hondurensis guys debate that w/ you. And the milk of milks for me would be multistrata, as you know.

While most Pales stay on the smaller size of three feet these South Dakota animals will stand up to any large NA milksnake.

Jeff,....I gotta say, that one IS pretty darn big! looks like a freakin' anery corn!..LOL!

Your right about the "fish stories" too, fortunately, that's why I take pics of stuff I catch,...I like to watch the expressions on people's faces when they actually SEE some of my TRUE MONSTER fish pics..LOL!

Here's a few from the early 90's.....
