Expert help please - who is the Daddy?

pastel01 Sep 28, 2009 07:45 AM

This was clutch 2 who have grown up a bit already. A normal mother (well brought 6 years ago as a normal) and the Dad could be Lemon Pastel, Cinnamon, Mojave or Bumblebee (none of which were ever purchased as being het albino) - nothing else as I have no normal males.

Result was 2 albinos (very high contrast orange and white) and 2 'normals'.

Now piccies as follows:

A body shot of the 'normal'.
A comparison of the 'normal' with it's albino sibling
A comparison of the albino sibling with a Nerd High Contrast Albino from clutch 1
A comparison of the heads of the 2 albinos.
Both of the albinos in this clutch look the same. The reason for the headshot is to show the difference in colour and also the shape of the nose. Both albinos from this clutch have the 'duck billed' look of a Super Cinnamon. And the shape is quite different from the normal high contrast albino.

I love this clutch to bits and will be keeping all 4 snakes, but I am so frustrated at not being 100% sure who the Dad is.

Please can you share your views on who the Dad is.

Uppz, I forgot my comments...

The albino at the bottom at the last pict. looks like a PastelAlbino to me.
If it is, the mom and the pastel are albinohets and he is the father to that.
The normals is maybe also het for albino. But they might come from anohter "daddy" and if so, they´re just normals...

If anybody else have any idea, please share with us :D

I think the one with the white head is a pastel albino too, but the father could be a bumblebee...

You said you had another clutch of albinos is is possible that you put the wrong male in with her? Or did you breed her to the an albino or het albino previously and she retained sperm? Unfortunately since there were no other morphs in the clutch I'd lean more towards their being another candidate or retained sperm. The only way really to tell which is the father will be to pick up some more het albino females and breed each possible father to a separate one - the one that produces the albinos is your het.

Congratulations on the surprise and Good luck!

A great example of why I try to get people to not throw everything they have at one damn female.

Logic says its the pastel. It is the least valuable to the breeder as a het albino. The breeder either made a mistake and put a pastel with a het or a poss het, or they realized albino pastels are about 3% special. Thats just my opinion, I'm sure there is someone out there that likes them. If the others were hets or even poss hets IF known by the breeder, they probably would not have sold it as a co-dom only snake.
