Ok I think my Royal has mites. Ive only seen a couple. I've read some about using olive oil on them to smother the mites. Is it grocery store cooking type olive oil? can I treat the snake without doing the whole cage Sanitation? Any info is welcome.

I have heard of people using Olive Oil to reduce a parasite load, but it will not completely eliminate an infestation. The cage will still harbor eggs and adults, and even if the oil smothers adults, eggs can remain lodged under scales.

mites wont lay their eggs on the animal host they actually lay them high in the cage and lay them in a moist area. they prefer under the lip of tanks up top, lips on water bowls ect ect.
the only way to get rid of mites is to treat everything. the rack the room the carpet i mean everything. proexotics has some awesome mite spray and a tutorial on mites and getting rid of them.

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
only $5.00. make yourself an invermectin spray. spray everything the snake, cage, waterbowl, decor........everything.
spray once/twice a day for about a week. then re-check, if you still see mites continue for another week.
mix one tube with about 1 liter of water, make sure the paste is diluted in the water. to extend the shelf life of the mixture, keep it somewhere dark where no light an get to it. the mixture should last 1.5-2weeks, then you will have to make another mixture.
PM me if you don't understand or still need help.
Pitoon
thank you.
