ring around burm eye?

Robotchicken Sep 28, 2009 08:46 PM

over the past month or so there has been this strange "ring" of skin around my albino burms eye. i thought it was an eye cap at first but now i am convinced its not....i have tried rubbing it off with water and gently pulling at it but no luck at all. i thought it might come off in a shed but it still hasn't! any ideas?

It's mite poop. You have mites. My guess, anyway. Is the snake spending a lot of time with it's head in the water bowl?

shes been soaking but with her head out of the water....she had mites a while back and they are gone now. im taking my bird to the vet this week should i just take her as well?

If the vet is a good reptile vet, yes. Mite are not killed with one application of mite spray. You have to break the cycle of eggs and adults. About every 6 weeks you should treat the animal AND cage, inside and out. 3 treatments should do it. The eyes are a tell-tale sign. Also look in the water bowl for dead mites that have drowned, and under the water bowl.
