seeing spots..

josephschmidt Sep 29, 2009 05:27 PM

hello all so as some of you well know i dont seem to have the best of luck to say the least, and for some reason cant seem to stop hurting myself.lol..having said that heres the scoop in a nut shell. bout 4.5 months ago i broke my leg real bad jumping a bmx bike. i shattered my tibia and fibula chipped and fractured my femur and destroyed my patella. yeah,, i went for it to say the least!! haha.. pretty much what i did is landed stiff legged and hyper extended my knee, but not at the knee right below it. i got extremely lucky the first hospital i went to didnt have a qualified surgeon so i had to wait till the following morning and take an ambulance to another hospital 50 miles away where i went right into surgery.(bout 14 hours after the accident)The biggest problem at that point was that from the swelling. it caused me to have compartment syndrome. which is caused by massive swelling that blocks capillary refill and oxygen exchange in ur muscles and causes them to die, and once there dead there dead all they can do is remove it. thank god that isnt the case in my situation!! couple more hours of waiting and ide be living a much different life. i got a long long road ahead of me but my dr. says at minimum i will have 90% mobility but should eventually make a full recovery. he told me that in 9 years of being one of the top surgeons in the state this is the worst breaks he has ever seen. ill post some pics in another post incase they remove them so ya'll can still get the scoop.

thank you to all who took the time to read this.

i hope you enjoy all the pics its been a while since ive posted.

joseph

yeah the compartment syndrome most def made things alot worse.
i posted pics but for some dumb reason they were erased for what ever reason idk??!! its lame cuz the pictures of my snake bite that were posted in may 2008 where 10 times worse as far as the gore factor goes, and im sure there still there to date.oh-well it is what it is. here are a couple pics that are a little less graphic.

A suit something like the Michelin tire man comes to mind. You got lucky with a good surgeon.

Those are some great spots, It's hard resist them.

the pic of the x-ray was takin on 9-3. i went in for surgury on that date, and they said that the fib was fusing itself together and surgury wasnt nessasary. the reason they didnt fix it during one of my other surgurys was because of all the internal and external damage on that side of the leg and the small chance of it fusing itself. im so thankful it is.
thank you
