With all the various types of breedings going on out there I've often wondered if anyone here has heard of the breeding of a BCC/BCI to a Brazilian Rainbow Boa????? If so, did it take and what came of it?

Thanks

In my opinion the marron boas are hybrids. Just going by the side pattern on some and by the narrow head shape. But what do I know ?

Snakeline Oct 01, 2009 02:02 PM

...maybe you wish it is so, but it isn´t! And what are you seeing? The heads are totaly normal!!! Seems like you haven´t followed the project enough, espacialy when you are posting such comments!

I agree Jorn!!! The Super Marrons are the most awesomely colored Colombians on the planet! Let alone on Kingsnake! It's no contest!

The only thing I'd ask Jorn, is how does an Adult Super Marron look? Do they darken up at all? Excuse my questions, I'm just curious as to what an adult Super Marron looks like, if there any old enough yet?

There are so many possibilities with that animal it's mind blowing! I honestly don't think people realise that animals potential! Or can visualise what would happen when combined with other Morphs! Specially with some of the recessive genes out there!

I would have loved to had been the one who discovered and produced them! Instant recognition, in this hobby/business!

It may prove to be like a Super Salmon and be able to produce full litters of Supers if bred to a regular Marron or Wild type non Marron animal? I say that because, so far all the Supers that are pattern Morphs, seem to be infertile? Since this is a COLOR SUPER CO-DOM MORPH, maybe it will prove to be very FERTILE and potent when bred to a normal wild type Boa? If that makes any sense? That's just how I would see it to be proven!

Bottom line Jorn, you have one of the most awesome Boa Morphs out there! PERIOD!

Thanks alot Chaz!

Intresting note of the super pattern mutations, never saw it that way! Anyway i´m happy to answer your questions, but i don´t want to steal this thread! I have to make some pics tomoroow anyway and will make some new ones of the older supermarrons here! I´ll make a thread tommorow with all the info you asked for!

... i was just a little pissed of to get such comments about my animals, as this would mean that i was a liar and i was very honest with everyone!

I agree, sometimes you have to look above & beyond those kinds of comments... I look forward to your post!

I will try there, but my question was directed to the people here.
Thanks

MoreliasCom Oct 01, 2009 10:03 AM

Iv never heard about it.
But from seeing what has been done with pythons.

Id say its possible.
This is some of the list:
Burmese retics
Burmese balls.
woma balls
carpet womas
Carpet balls
blood ball
chondro carpets
etc etc

Thanks for the response.

I don't believe it is possible because while BCi/BCc/BCa/BCo and rainbow boas are all under the same species Boine, they are different genera (boas are Boa and Rainboas are Epicrates). Subspecies can usually cross and sometimes species but I don't beleive they can once you move back on the tree to genera.

I beleive rainbow boas have successfully crossed with anacondas which are also epicrates but was never able to find pics, just heard that it had been done.

I hope I got the family tree terms correct!

HMMMMM! Thanks for your response.

Genera has been breached in Pythons and Colubrids, so it probably could be done in boas, but it seems there is little interest in doing so by the people who breed hybrids.

Example Pythons = Ball X IJ Carpet

Example Colubrids King X Corn

so it is feasible it could also be done in Boas IMO

How could I have forgotten about king x corn? (I started out in corn snakes)

Thanks Frank!

No problem April. I was also looking for that anaconda / rainbow hybrid pic, never could find it though.

April I thought Eunectes murinus was Eunectes murinus, Green anaconda not Epicrates.

I'm confused ???

Eunectes, Anacondas
Eunectes deschauenseei, Dark-spotted anaconda
Eunectes murinus, Green anaconda
Eunectes murinus gigas
Eunectes murinus murinus, Green anaconda
Eunectes notaeus, Yellow anaconda

what I think she meant was that she heard by forum chatter they where very closely related and have been hybridized in the past although no photos seems to be available, I also heard TC had one on his list WAYYYYYYYY back in the day.

you are correct on the genera of anaconda. I simply think it was a simple oversight on aprils part due to forum chatter.
