A few pics of some of my little ones

jl8243 Sep 30, 2009 07:00 PM

I managed to snap a few decent pics before the camera battery totally quit. It goes without saying that they look better in person and that the flash washes them out.

this one isn't really orange behind the head. it's buckskin with deep rich red pinbands for the first 2/3; the last 3rd is almost all solid black bands.

this picture is pretty close to real life. very uniform split saddles all the way down.

this one is a looker. it started out orange at the head and tail and and yellowish everywhere else. it's now an awesome green instead of yellow. I can't wait to see this guy full-grown.

this pic is pretty close to the real thing too.

These last 2 are ruthveni. Colors on these pics are spot-on. The normal is one of my favs. I really like those heather-grey bands and the super-clean red.

this albino is my newest baby; got it earlier this month

hope these help spice this forum up a bit.

Josh

Hi John,

I have more thayeri but nothing else in the complex yet. Eventually I'm going to get into mex mex and greeri.

I posted a couple more pics of the split-banded one in my reply to Michelle above.

Watch out Josh....Mex Mex are addicting too......Hehe
I have almost as many Mex Mex as Thayeri now.....
Got some nice Ruthveni too.....1.1 Amealco, MX & 1.2 Tapalpa, MX lines....
Greeri are cool too.....I haven't kept any in MANY years....
I just got a nice hatchling pair this year.

Who did you get that split saddled leonis from?
Who produced it?
She is AWESOME!!!

Yup, I'm doomed to an empty wallet I'm afraid. lol. here's to a very productive spring so I can afford some expansion. :D

I'll have to look up the info on the split saddle one. I don't remember all the details off the top of my head. Vr retro line is somewhere in her lineage.

I got her as a non-feeder late '07. She came from the same clutch as the one in the 4th pic in my original post. She's very healthy but still kind of a slow feeder; her sister is quite a bit bigger.

jl8243 Oct 01, 2009 09:52 PM

Here's a few more for your viewing enjoyment. There was lots of soaking going on today.

A very clean red and yellow MSP.

Green and red little guy.

This one has red bowties for the first 5 bands then black pinbands for the rest.

This one is STUNNING, almost no black. I think Michelle will recognize him.

Another MSP, red and yellow/orange this time.

Gigantic red and orange MSP. I think Michelle knows her too.

This one is unique with orange bowties all the way down.

Jlassiter Oct 01, 2009 10:05 PM

VERY NICE Josh.....
That first MSP is one of the nicest I've seen.
But the last Buckskin Leonis with the orange bow ties has got to be my favorite out of ALL your pics.
Oh....And the No black leonis is nice too.

Thanks again for sharing some pics.....

I can't take any of the credit for those guys... Other than having good taste and scooping them up. lol

Off the top of my head...
The MSP is Lee Abbott line, I think Ken Casstevens produced her.
Orange bowties was produced by Mike Bodner.
Reduced black one was produced by Michelle.

MichelleRogers Oct 02, 2009 12:13 AM

Josh,
I do recognize the reduced black male and the msp is also one of mine. I remeber printing the label for Ken now...lol..
They look great I am so glad you posted them thank you.
That MSP is huge. I bred her sister for the first time this year and she produced 4 nice babies, take a look at my site on clutch C and that is her sister.

I checked them out and I gotta say you produce some great animals. I really like mine's sister. Oh and your 'future breeder' is just stunning.

MichelleRogers Oct 02, 2009 12:04 PM

Thank you Josh, I will try and dig up photo's of the father and the mother to your female, the male you have that I produced came from the reduced black male that sired clutch A and this is the mother to him,

Thank you John,
I have been trying to play catch up at work. I still am about 25 horses behind so it is taking a toll.
I hope to get some free time maybe next week and get some more pic's.

Josh,

Cool man…I recognize this one.

>>This one has red bowties for the first 5 bands then black pinbands for the rest

From my husbandry records...

"Both parents were from Dan Vermilya stock. The male (Lmt2002d06) is a white Leonis with "key holed" bands, reduced black borders and red-orange "vanished" centers. The female (Lmt2001a03) is a beige-gray Leonis with "bowtie" bands, multiple alternates, reduced black borders and reduced orange centers. The male was one of Dan Vermilya's "white leonis" project animals."

Received delivery as a juvenile on 01/04/07 from Loren at Sundial…How does it feed these days? When I had that specimen, it seldom ate from the tongs...

If you’ll email me, I’ll send you some early photos of this specimen from my archives…

Later,
Jim.

PS: Good eye man with your selections...

Here's a yearling photo from my archives...

Hi Jim,

I really appreciate the additional info! And if it's not too much trouble I'd love to bother you for those pics. I'll email later today.

I got him a couple weeks ago from Ken Casstevens but haven't tried to feed yet. It obviously was eating well for Ken; he's pretty chunky. I'm feeding later today. I'll give him something small and let you know how he does.

Josh

jl8243 Oct 03, 2009 06:40 PM

Turns out that he eats off tongs just fine now.
