Gaboon update

texasviper619 Oct 01, 2009 06:49 PM

Im happy to report that I have had no more problems with my baby gaboon, I gave him 3 doses of cipro at 3 day intervals via f/t fuzzy. Thus far he has had 3 full sized meals and no sign of regurge, a good bm, and a shed. I started mixing unflavored pedialyte with his water and there are no longer big folds in his skin. He looks altogether much healthier and I am overwhelmed with relief. Thanks everyone for all your advice on this subject, what a great forum! Cheers

Hey Randell...are you going to have any of those short, 24" (+)(-) snake tongs that are made in some place other than America for around $60 or $70 at the show? I want a couple of pair. Friends who have them say they are thin enough for getting in smaller cracks and crevises and under rocks out in the field and work great for getting smaller hots moved around in the snake room.

Yes! And I'll have them at my show in San Antonio.

Good, Randall-save a pair for me as well! I've been in several situations out west this season where they would have been more than useful.

Hey Randal, you have me and this fellow confused.

As of now I am planning on attending the Nov. show so I'll make sure and swing by to say hello.

The more you want them Randal, the more I like them.

Oh, I hate those damn snakes!
How's that?

Thanks for the update, that's good to hear. Cipro is the best I have seen and has been used successfully with numerous snake taxa for resolving enteric disorders of bacterial origin.
