Is it okay to put a pool or some type of water running system in w/ a cham?

Uneek78 Sep 17, 2003 09:53 AM

I want to add some type of water running system in the enclosure. Is that okay? I plan on putting together together for my cham. I just need to know what is okay and what isn't. I was going to use that green patio carpeting for the bottom of the enclosure. So it can somewhat mimick grass. Any ideas on making my enclosure as realistic as possible are welcome.

Uneek,

Realism is a great thing, but chameleons aren't puddle drinkers. Very few chams will drink from standing water.
So, the only benefit a watering hole will bring is a slight humidity increase. There are more drawbacks: Chams can drown is a very small amount of water; bacteria and fungii will breed around a water source; Free roaming feeding insects will pretty-much committ suicide in your pool.

My wife (a kindergarten teacher) relayed a joke to me:
How do you catch a unique rabbit? Unique up on it.
