I'd still recomend Airborne. Yes, they've lost quite a few shipments on me but so have the other shippers. I've never had an animal die though. It is the only shipper that allows the shipping of Live Reptiles so you can mark the box as such.
The way I ship is a cardboard box, 1 inch foam lining, Tortoise/tortoises in a pillow case, packed in styrofoam peanuts or newspaper. You can get a fish box from your local petshop or make the set up yourself. You can pick up styrofoam board from home depot for about 4 bucks a sheet.
