Question about photo size

girlzilla Sep 17, 2003 10:26 AM

I am trying to post photos, but the files are really big, and I don't know what to do to make them smaller. My boyfriend suggested changing the resolution, so I'm down to the lowest (72, I think?) but they are still gargantuan. I also cropped them, but that doesn't seem to help either... Help!

What file type are you using? I've found that JPEG's (.jpg) are the best for forum posts. .gif's tend to be big, and .bmp's enormous. Depending on the program you have, it might be impossible to change the file type, though.

you can change the file type in paint...just open the picture in there and save it under jpeg, it's simple i'm technologically impaired and i figured it out!

- and it's 832 KB big. I got my pictures developed at Walmart, and they put them on a picture CD for me. Does that have anything to do with it? Is there anything else I can do?
Thanks!

Ouch! Hmm... And you tried cropping.... That's strange. I could tell you what to do if you had Adobe Photoshop, since that's all I know how to use... hopefully someone else has suggestions.

To answer this question, I need to know what Operating sustem your computer uses, and what image editing software you have. In Microsoft Picture It!, you just save as a web ready picture, and select full screen. This usually results in about a 50-70k file. Windows XP will automatically downsize your pictures, if you email them.
