Paradox genetics??

tcdrover Oct 04, 2009 11:03 AM

Can anyone explain the genetics behind Paradox boas?

I have a neonate with white blotches. I'm curious if she is a
paradox or may be more likely to produce them later. I thought it
might be a temporary look, but she's shed twice now and they are
still clearly pronounced.

I haven't read anything yet about how paradox boas get produced.
I thought it was a freak occurance, not necesarily genetic.

It's got to be related to albinoism somehow right?

I'm not an expert or have ever bred a paradox so I'm just going off of what I heard from some good breeders.

Even breeding a paradox to a paradox doesn't even gaurantee one paradox baby, chances are the same even if your breeding two boas that aren't paradox.

Not sure why they are so expensive, must be the look and not the genetics I'm guessing.

This is just what I have heard, someone who has actually bred paradox boas would know a lot more than me.

I have been very taken by the paradox boas. They are something truly unique. As I understand it, as of yet, there has been no proof that paradox boas are genetic. And I think that is why they are still so expensive, because they truly are rare. Who knows, it might be three or more different traits together that hit some hidden mutation. But it's still unknown and random.

His Paradox Albino het Anerythristic showed somewhere around the
50% Range. Here is a 'Calico' Sunset poss dh Sunglow, maybe with
some Anerythristic gene hidden somewhere. I really enjoy this Boa
due to his DRAMATIC color changes, let alone aging colors.
