Shedding..yum?

I just recently became the parent of a baby beardie.. I was already pretty familiar with these guys before I got him but this little guy kinda confused me. I had read that bearded dragons don't eat their shed skin. My little guy just had his first shed since I've had him and he ate every bit of skin that has come off of his body. I didn't get to see this but my roommate saw the little guy rub the skin of his belly and then eat the piece whole! I've only found a few very small pieces of his skin on the floor of his tank so I guess he ate the rest. Has anyone else had this happen? I've never heard of any beardies purposely eating their skin... Thanks for any replies

I have raised many 1000's of babies and some will eat the skin...

I've seen it but not very often, generally only little pieces. There is usually a salad in my cages and I guess they prefer that.

I guess it's personal preference. Some eat skin, some don't. I have a yearling that still eats her skin, even with other food options.

Yea, that's what I figured.. I make sure he gets plenty of crickets, greens and, every once in a while, mealworms. So it's definitely not because he isn't getting enough food.
