Turtle ID

MBarr Sep 17, 2003 10:33 AM

I am trying to help ID a turtle by photo and have been told it
is a rhinoclemmys but not at all sure that is correct. Anyone able to ID this turtle? I have a good rhynoclemmys key but not sure it is that species.

Are all those pics of the same Turtle?
Did you buy it, or find it outside? (If you found it, where are you located?)

ummm, in the second pic it looks almost like a Western Painted Turtle or something, and in the first picture it looks like some kind of wood or water turtle?
I wasn't able to see the last pic...

Sorry, I really don't know so I guess I'm not much help, but I think it's a really neat looking turtle.

Hopefully somebody else who knows more will respond.

Definitely got the right species - they're great fun! I never knew a turtle could have this much personality.

That sure saved me trying to key it over the phone or email! It is a rescue from a woman that works with us (Gulf Coast Turtle & Tortoise Society) on the other side of Houston.
