THE YEAR OF THE MYSTIC's

anthony james mc Oct 05, 2009 01:40 AM

Proudly introducing "10-4" my newest addition to the Mystic family!

After a hectic 4 years worth of ridicule, I proudly introduce to you the worlds FIRST SUPER MYSTIC.. As always the pic is horrible, lol! I'll see about better pics later!

To those few that followed my lead early on, thanks for trusting me and this project!!!!!!

Hope everyones season winds down well for them as well !

Anthony,

Congradulations on producing the Super Mystic.

He or She looks awesome, even though it's a horrible pic, lol.

I'm ready to see the Potion and Super pictured side by side.

Congrats Anthony, but if you are convinced now that you have proved out the gene and you have gotten the results that RDR got a couple years back, shouldn't you now drop the mystic name and call them phantoms and super phantoms since those were named first?

anthony james mc Oct 05, 2009 03:03 AM

I caught hell from day one for saying they would make purple snakes, so the name in my mind is just fine where it is.. Call them McCain line Phantoms if you like but I am not rewording things now just to please RDR . The minute Kevin calls his line Super Phantoms instead of Purple Passions is the minute I will consider changing the name of my line, until then I guess the name stays thank you! Thanks for your input Evan, much appreciated!

kingofspades Oct 05, 2009 05:44 AM

Ok, so my question is...have you created a super form using RDR phantoms or Purple Passions or whatever. Sure it might look like a duck, and swim like a duck...
but it could be a goose. Ya know?

In that case the Mystic name must be fine with you too then if they are different.. Ya, I'm sure it's just a goose , not a duck at all, LOL... I'm fine with whatever you decide these are.......... Funny how "ONLY" RDR and NERD phantoms make purple ones yet MY line looks just like both lines anyway , don't you think that is a bit strange??.. I guess in a few years once I unfold some more stuff I'll make it a little easier for some of you to decide what I have, I'm fine with that too.

But hey folks I'm just a "little fish" in a big pond anyway that's how this all got started 4 years ago when I first mentioned any of this stuff and decided it was simplier to just go with the Mystic name from the start. The "big fish" made it very clear that I was on my own on this one. So in a nutshell when the dust settles I proved that even the "little fish" have a shot at success if they just try and focus on what they truely believe in!

WHATEVER the case may be with the Mystic line- I'm fine with it all at this point now and I looking forward to making some pretty wicked stuff later, regardless of what name some of you want to slap on them!!!!!!!!

IMHO separate names for two lines that might eventually be reasonably proved to be the same (not sure it can ever be completely proven without genetic mapping) is a lot better than the same name for different morphs. I don't find mystic vs. phantom confusing at all but am still not sure which woma anybody has and which woma makes pearl (and both mutations named woma are from NERD so it’s not even a case of another breeder jumping on an established name).

At this point I would say it's up to phantom to prove that it's the same as mystic and can make a mystic potion with mojave. I don't doubt that it can but some times I'm a bit of a stickler for proof and a phantommojave looking like mystic potion would be one step closer to proving phantom and mystic the same exact morph. There could still be subtle differences where one or the other might be better in certain combos but now that we've seen the mysticmojave combo we know that's awesome.

TOM_CRUTCHFIELD Oct 05, 2009 11:13 AM

Anthony, CONGRATS and call them anything you want. A trade name is all it is and you have the right to decide what to call it as you produced it...

I told you those 4 eggs were plenty to get the job done. Congratulations on shutting up the nay-sayers and proving that the mystic is what so many people thought it was all along. I suspect that now the available mystics on the market are going to get really scarce really fast.

Thanks Jason! I was sweating bullets on that clutch trust me there! Not that I was worried if there was a Super , but I was worried that I wouldn't hit it this year with that one small clutch . Counting my lucky stars on this one for sure.

Congrats Anthony! That is a snake to die for. I am glad you helped me get into this project last year, it has turned out great. Keep the name! Tom Harbin

anthony james mc Oct 05, 2009 08:08 AM

Your welcome Tom! Send me those pics man!

Here's a little better pic of the lil' feller.

That first pic was taken inside so it was not very good, it was dark outside so it was the best I could do at the time.

Take care,

Anthony McCain

Congrats Anthony! It must be really nice to see that project come to fruition with all the naysayers and everything! That little guy looks awesome and I look forward to more pics! Does he look much different than the mystic potions?

anthony james mc Oct 05, 2009 10:50 AM

Hi Shane, been along time, nice to hear from you man! Hope all is well there!

The Super version seems to be a bit richer/ darker than the Potions were when they first hatched. I also see a bit more pattern detail on the sides of this Super Mystic that I don't/didn't see on the sides of the Potions. The Super Mystic has more "key holes" where you can actually make out the pigment bleeding thru whereas the Potions tend to have fewer "keyholes" and ALOT more of the rounded spots (just solid circles basically) without the pigment showing thru. BOTH are nice Super forms so it's tough to say one is better than the other. One Super form may end up a bit more colorful than the other and what that one lacks in that department it will easily make up for it in breeding power genetically speaking anyway. The Potions have already proven to be quite variable and odds are no two of any of these types of Supers will look exactly the same , kinda neat really! Good problems to have I guess!!!!!!

Take care,

Anthony McCain

mlpetros Oct 05, 2009 04:56 PM

Congrats on the Super Mystic !!! I can`t see a lot of difference between this and the Mystic Potion, but they are both awesome morphs. BTW the Mystic you sold me is doing fantastic.
Will you be bringing any Potions to Tinley Park ?

I appreciate all the good input towards this project! Looking forward to updating you all with better pics of both the Potions and the Super as they grow! Both are great designer morphs with alot of untapped potential just waiting to be uncovered a little more each year! Will be alot of fun for alot of folks for some time, last I checked that's what this is really all about anyway!!!

congrats bro....
i dont wanna say i told ya so... but I TOLD YA SO...LOL and
to all the nay sayers.. you know who they are... hehehehe...like i said before, i am the original founder of the phantom and now the original advisor of the mystic..lol..
again.. congrats.. you deserve it after all the flack you have taken.

anthony james mc Oct 07, 2009 05:17 PM

Just glad we are passed all that now!!

I think there is a valuable lesson to be learned from all this looking back at it all now. It is what it is , time to move on now . You ended up with the Mystic gene anyway from me John so in time the gene did get back around to you. Alot of room for cool combos here is how I look at this now, and some room to make some sales too! This is a good solid project to be involved with no matter how you look at it in my eyes.
