an interesting corn

DMong Oct 05, 2009 02:26 PM

Here's one that is very different from the rest of the normal corns I hatched this year. This one has much larger/longer blotches than all the rest, and also exhibits very large distict lateral blotching as well. Out of two huge piles, this one really stood out from the rest.

DMan,
That's VERY cool.
I haven't seen one with so pronounced side blotches. What I could do with That!

I haven't sexed that particular one yet, but I hope it's a female, because the whole idea of making these dbl. het/hypo Lavender offspring was to back-breed them to the father hypo lavender.

So if that funny big-blotched trait was in there as well, it sure wouldn't hurt things either!..LOL!

thanks again!, ~Doug

Doug I had a wc from north FL that laid 25 eggs and there were a few that looked like that. They were also some of the largest hatchling corns I'd seen.
Beauties.

Yeah, those sound pretty cool!

The female that had this weird one laid 21 eggs, and my other HUGE W/C female laid 35 good eggs,.....and about 15 little hard, yellow, jelly bean looking infertile ones MANY days later.

Apparently she had eggs stacked all the way up to her freakin' NECK!..LOL!

Doug,

That's obviously a Chain King mimic!
I'd like to see more photos of it as it grows.
If you have a similar one, that could very well be a selective breeding project.

I can't say I've ever seen a corn quite like that.

Yeah Tim,...isn't that crazy??. I'll tell you something ELSE that really bizarre that I just recently noticed too, and that is instead of the snakes checkerboard pattern being very random as it ALWAYS is in corns, this on has SETS of checkers on EACH SIDE of the belly, and they ALL are directly in BETWEEN each large side blotch.......runing it's ENTIRE LENGTH!!!

Look at the bottom pic, and you can see what I mean. That same thing runs it's entire LENGTH!...........that is just too weird to even comprehend!!!

In any case,..YES!, he is staying right here. This should REALLY look impressive when he gets bigger,..know what I mean?. It will be much more "IN YOUR FACE".

Glad you picked up on how weird this one really IS!

Hey Doug,

Was there any motley gene in the mix that created that corn? The reason I ask is because the past few years I've been breeding a Reverse Okeetee to an Amel Motley and some of the babies have elongated dorsal blotches, reduced side patterns and reduced checkers on the ventral surface.

They're not quite as extreme-looking as your example, but the do look like a half motley/half normal fusion.

Tim,..

No, these are from a typical looking hypo Lavender sire x W/C cornsnake my friend captured in central Florida.

I just looked at the belly again, and it's almost impossible for me to believe that the checkers are in symmetrical pattern to the weird blotched..LOL!

This is some cool stuff bro!

I also produced a one-of-a-kind freak 100% brooks king this year that I'm certain is the ONLY one like it known to exist.

Some very cool things happened for me this year.
