I would like some input from some of you guys and gals on what you feed your tadpoles and how often? Kinda new to the tadpole rearing. Thanks in advance!

I feed mine OSI Spirulina flakes and Omega One tropical fish flakes. A daily change of water (90%) is followed by a feeding. I also have oak leaves in the containers for them to munch on. Accasionallyh I'll feed frozen midge larva (bloodworms). My azureus and tinc tads love these and will quickly swim from one end of the bowls to the other and rip the 'worms' right out of the tongs. Pretty wild!

I used to use Aquarian vitamin and mineral flakes, but after I ran out (after they discontinued it) I used Aquarian Tropical. I hear now Mike Shrom knows a guy who makes his own fish food, so if I had frogs and tads, I would give this guy a try.
Best,
Justin

I think eds makes tad food. At least when I get some I plan to use that at least to start out with.

I use tadpole food from Ed's Fly Meat. I feed them every 2nd or 3rd day. I keep clutch's together in about 3 gallons of water with some spagnum moss and potho's cuttings. I change the water about every two weeks. So far I have about 25 Auratus and 6 Leuc's but I have about 20 Leuc tads in various stages. I originally started raising them individualy but found that they grow faster and bigger when raised together in a larger body of water. Also, I was loosing leuc tads until I added the spagnum moss, I'm not sure if is due to something in the moss or if it just gives the tads places to hide so they don't pick at each other. I haven't had any with spindley leg syndrome.

I haven't tried this yet, but plan to... Its called Formula Two. When I kept reef tanks and had tangs, I needed a constant source of algae or they would get sick/lateral line disease. Formula Two at the time was a frozen cubed food. I just found out that they started making a dried version of it. Its main ingredient is spirulina, rather than the fish meal that some "algae flakes" have as their main ingredient. They also make a more carniverous type diet, called Formula One that has shrimp pieces in it. That would probably be a good source for carotene. I'm going to try raising a batch of tads on just the Formula Two to see how well it works. I'll post the results.
