patterned neonate:
This year i bred the Blaze phase into the Jelly. Should call them Fire Blaze or Hell Fires something like that. The hets will produce:
Blaze x jelly
Blaze x Peanut butter
blaze x t-negative albino

wow. They keep more red than I thought! I always figured they'd lose most of it.
Here is a baby pic of the same snake.

Sorry for the poor quality. these two are the only *adult* pix i have uploaded

Zenny I'm glad you chimed in.....Thanks.
Some may suspect I was trying to see if indeed the "blaze" held more/better color than some of the others that were produced by various breeders. (and they'd be right I suppose)
Any chance you have a current photo or two of an Apalachicola king that has retained lots of color??

Here are some of mine. These are my two original animals. They held color as adults but the muted black reduced the contrast needed to really see it well. My take is that "blaze" is a form of hypo and was only noted for high red as they were derived from a hi-red project in the first place.

Those are great. I tend to agree woth you on just what "blaze" is....?
I'll be leaning more toward wild looking animals again soon as well as trying to get the deep colors from my hold backs.

Well you've seen these photo already but that's what i've got uploaded... I need to get updated pix of all my adult stuff.

As you may know, i really like the Getula complex, and those are nice!
Yeah...but those are great looking examples!
Good luck w/all the trials.

I must say those are pretty red. I think the variability with Hyperythristic (Blaze) are like any other recessive trait. You get your light- dark and everything inbetween.
Same snake as above as a nonate:

I think the more patternless one is not a "blaze".

Yes this snakes (below) is not a blaze phase... it will be used in my blaze project (as soon as he stops being afraid of the female... or my other blaze female puts on some size)... Produced by Mark himself so he KNOWS what it is
Killer snake all around... good feeder, non aggressive other wise... i can't wait to see what pops out from the 1st generation of this High orange X Blaze

Oh I thought Mark was answering my post about this guy.

This is just my humble opinion but I'd breed him into one of Brandons hi color animals and work on a new and distinct hi-red line.

Unfortunately i sold my female from Brandon's line waaaay before i picked up this guy from Mark... i think Brandon still has his adults... so it may be something I'll ask him about next time i speak to him.

Very nice snake Z. I can't wait to see what comes from this breeding. Hopefully he will "grow a set" and show her he means business.

LOL @ "Grow a Set" .... The females is considerably bigger than he is soo i think that's is drawback.
Anyway, thanx 4 the compliment... hope to see many nice things in the coming seasons
I'm bettin there are some guys on the forum with experience with females bigger than they are, LMAO.
Do you think the Bell's Hypo is the result of breeding the blaze x hypo as some other guys have now done? Do you think its something else? Alot of their's are super hi-orange but this one was totally yellow as a baby, variaton or genetic?

I think those lighter variations are just that. I have asked the Bells and watched there table over the last couple years to see if there was anything resembling a Blaze x hypo homo.
They produce these every year:

It's been the thought of a few that thats what they were. I havent seen their table in years. If not that what are they and why are they the only ones that produce them? I mean, we know they are a cross and there are other people working with em. What do you think causes the patternlessness? Particularly in the head scales.
What do you think causes the patternlessness? Particularly in the head scales.
I don't know except for that the guy who breeds them for the Bells told me that is what they were. They also sell them for less than the red Blaze.
As far as anyone else producing them.. I see that Gormet Rodent produces a lot of blaze every year and their lines look completly different from the line from the Bells. Could it be that the phenotypes used or outcrossing causes this?
Is it possible the Bells didn't know what they were producing all these years? I always liked the yellow ones more even though I didn't think they were hypo Blaze.
Didn't Tom Stevens post some hypo x Blaze he produced. Didn't they look different? Tom can you please repost?

that they are "exactly" the double morph of hypo brooks/blaze goini because they do look so much different than the snakes Tom produced. That really doesnt answer the question, and I think its the head scalation that defines this "morph/race". Of course alot of these problems occur due to bad record keeping, that cant be helped at this point. But now I am intersted in the heredity of these, others are as well. Trying to figure out whats going on with the Hi-yellow and hi-orange ones is interesting too. There isnt much of a "range", they are either yellow or orange nothing much in between. I bred an extreme yellow one to a ghost brooks this year and got one strange one and 6 "normal" hypo het ghost so PART of the genetics is the HYPO brooks gene for sure. What the "other" one is?? It looks like what I would think to be a "poor cousin" of the Bells line. Is it genetic or why did it occur in the F1?? Not sure. Here is the strange one and a "normal" HYPO sibling. I am just looking to compare breeding trials with anyone else working with their line. Thanks,J

I found some more pics of the Bell hypos. They all seem to have the patternless heads just like the yellow ones.
