Here's a good start!

Just started cooling things down over here, and put some animals together. The boys seemed happy about that!

Captnemo, where are you located? I'm in the Midwest and usually stick to cooling around Thanksgiving until Valentine's day. I haven't had a lot of luck, any advice?

captnemo Oct 10, 2009 12:28 PM

I'm in NJ. I paired these two up late last year, and had a few copulations, but nothing came of it. This year, I put them together as soon as I started cooling, and he was on her like white on rice!

Have you had no copulations, or just nothing coming from it? If the male showed no interest, I'd suggest some male combat if you have access to another, or using a freshly shed skin from another mature male if you don't have access to the actual animal. Another thing I've noticed with some of my other animals is the tendency for well fed males to be lazy and not show interest in the girls. My pair is fed nothing larger than small - medium rats about once a week (female slightly more often).

Good luck.

Mike, how cool do you take them down to?

captnemo Oct 13, 2009 01:32 PM

Jay - My room drops down to the upper 60's/low 70's at night, with the snakes offered a daytime hot spot of 85. This applies to all species but the Bredl's.

What do you do differently with your bredli?

captnemo Oct 21, 2009 11:32 PM

Last year, I cooled them just like the others. This year, I moved them to the bottom cages, and will be cooling them longer....needless to say, last year was a flop.
