MOSAIC HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!!!!!

Asnakesview Oct 07, 2009 03:11 PM

Well the trade with Marc Morris for Mosaic and another pair of snakes for our bush baby is complete. Enzimo the Garnett's Greater Bush Baby arrived yesterday at 5PM just perfect. Now at 10AM today we got what we were waiting for.

On another note, we call ourselves "A Snake's View" simply because we try to look at things through our snakes' eyes. Hoping that it will help to make these wonderful creatures happy on a daily basis. A Snake's View is not an actual business, YET, just a name that Matt Olsen and Zach Bevens have assumed and use when we share snakes with people or post on forums. Enough blabbing already here she is... First three pics are Matt with Mosaic and the last three are me. (Zach) Also she is in shed and has food in her so we had to be careful. After shedding we will post some better pics.

At first the pics we saw it looked as if she was only 4ft but now that she is here I would say that she at least 5ft and definitely ready for a boyfriend. We will keep everyone posted.

Mosaic is awesome! I love her name. Can't wait to see photos of her after shed. Congrats on acquiring her.

I haven't seen that before. Is that an Argentine X Bolivian cross?

Can't believe you never seen/heard about her before. I think she was even in Reptiles magazine. Here's a link to a page about her by Mike G., who produced her.

Is this the same Mosaic that was in the reptiles magazine awhile back? If so congrats she is a beautiful unusual snake. Argentines are my absolute favorite!

Yes it is her in the flesh. Thank you for the kind words. We are thinking that a hypo harlequin is in her breeding future.

PBM Oct 09, 2009 01:23 AM

Please don't use her to produce mutts. Wouldn't the point be to breed her to other argentines, find out if she's genetic and create a solid group of PURE argentine "mosaics"? Once you breed her to a hypo harlequin, those babies are whatever, but you can't rule out retained sperm if you try to "go back" and breed her to an argentine the next time. If you want to make "salmontine harlequins" why not grab another available female argentine, not one that's potentially carrying a unique genetic trait? It's your animal now, so you can do what you wish I guess, but I'd seriously reconsider that one. Why not breed her to a T positive argentine? A motley argentine? Her parents were bred again, and no others were produced. She is one of a kind, so what would be best..........From a snakes view???

I AGREE 100%. PLEASE DON'T PRODUCE MUTTS. IT'S NOT MY BUSINESS BUT YOU WOULD DO MUCH BETTER FINANCIALLY IF YOU BRED HER TO PURE OCCIDENTALIS ONLY....

I agree. Breeding toa different subspecies is a sure fire way of destroying the potential of this morph. Given the paucity of true morphs in occidentalis, this above anything else is a primer reason to keep it pure.

I think the others have a valid point. You have a unique Argentine boa. Makes sense to breed her to other Argentines to see if you can isolate the trait.

If you breed it to anything other than another Argentine, you will not know if whatever it has is genetic or not. It will prove nothing. If you breed her to an Argentine, you may find that you have something.
