Can someone please tell me what this is?

My husband found it outside under a old dog house. We live in Dallas Texas if that might help. It is about 3-4 inches long and is black with lime green spots... it is also very smooth and shiney looking.. and no I did not touch it it just looks smooth and shiney LOL

Thanks for any help.. we are just curious

I believe what the person above said, when translated into layperson terms, is that it isn't a lizard. It's a tiger salamander.

I got their reply I did a search on the name they gave me and I came up with the Tiger Salamander as well.. boy was I shocked LOL... guess I don't know a lizard from a whole in the ground. FYI we did release the little critter on it's merry way.

Thanks for the info!!
