Texas Gulf Coast Box

sutpenshundred Oct 10, 2009 03:56 AM

Why were Gulf Coast Box turtles formerly listed as occurring in Texas, but now are not? What is it an error or is it just that no one goes to those areas?

Roger Conant's field guide was first published over 50 years ago and has been revised several times - it has never shown Gulf Coast Box Turtles to live in Texas.

I was thinking of Pope's Turtles of the United States and Canada. It seems strange that is so specific; Pope says the range extends to Matagorda County.
