My Breeding Efforts thus far

orchidspider Oct 10, 2009 03:15 PM

thought Id show you what I have attempted to breed in Bulls. The top pic is the father, what I call a red bull- though not from any specific line of breeding, but from what i have seen people calling red bulls in the classifieds - this def falls into the category of a red bull much more than half of the "red bulls" for sale. He breeds nice children when crossed with my Kansas Yellow bull.

1st pic is Red Bull male - Father
2nd pic is 08 red x yellow bull son- that I am keeping
3rd pic is 07 red x yellow bull daughter that I sold to a friend and she brought it back for me to photograph after a year.

I am pretty happy bout the results. What the Father lacks in defined pattern is made up for by importing great color, while the mother has very defined patterns and they carry over. The other variant in the clutches has been more yellow and dark lines with orange - more like the daughter you see here.

Going on the lines of what defines a proper LA pine, I am sure there ARE other types of red bulls besides the ones that everyone calls A red bull.

Hope you like the pics. I will repost an older shot of the mother.

Wow, those are some really good looking bulls. The red x yellow female is outrageous...looks kind of like a jani got in the backdoor.

Man I do love bull snakes, but got rid of them all when I started working with Louisiana pine snakes. Too much risk of people being paranoid that I am cross breeding them like a mad scientist in my basement (BTW, for the record I don't have a basement).
Someday I will revisit the bull snake scene. Maybe
