Eye drops and Medication

CrocKing Oct 11, 2009 01:53 AM

Looking for a few things for my med cabinet. First are eye drops to clean out animal eyes when they have something stuck in them like shed, dirt, etc. I read they are saline with no preservatives but what brand? Also neomycin b and polymycin sulfate b, this is a eye med right? Thanks.

Saline is fine. First aid treatment is to lightly flush out the eye of any debris and keep the eye clean of mucous. If the problem persists, then a veterinary examination is necessary. Different medications are used if the cornea is ulcerated, or if there is increased/decreased intraoptic pressure for example. The diagnostic procedures for this are usually simple, but impractical for a hobbyist.
