Panamanian Boas?

skyfire_1 Oct 11, 2009 06:10 PM

I can't seem to find much about these on the internet. Anyone know of a good site where I can find out more, such as care, and traits or size information? What are your opinions of these snakes.

They are Boa c. imperator so care is per any Boa c. imperator. I believe they don't get quite as big as a Colombian Boa c. imperator though.

I saw some at a reptile show (or at least boas labeled as such.) Noticeably different coloration than some other Central American boas. They had more of a brown and reddish coloration and less black. The adult male was coiled up in a sweaterbox with room to spare, so I doubt he could have been much more than 4-5ft. The babies were very small. This is definitely a smaller race of boa compared to imperator from South America.

You might want to check out Cutting Edge Herps website. Vin is who I got mine from and I think he has some info about them on his website.

They are not too big....my adults range from about 4 1/2' (males) to just over 5' (females). They are pretty stout bodied animals and my adults are Housed in the Large Vision Boa rack with plenty of room. Temperment is not bad.......but be careful at feeding time.....they pack a punch!

Here are a few of my adults Hypo Reverse Stripes.

Here are a few babies I've produced from this group over the last two years:

SuperHypo's

Poss Super Hypo

Anerytheristic

Normal

Feel Free to shoot me an email........I'd be glad to fill you in on this wonderful locality.
