Hatchling color...Will they be the most colorful adults?

skmcwilliams May 25, 2003 12:13 PM

I know many of you have experience with breeding for good color. I just had a cluch hatch out of pure sanfires. I would say 50 percent came out with outrageous orange coloration. another 25 percent came out with good color but now as good as the others, and then the rest came out with no color. Will the ones that were super orange when they hatched be the most colorful adults? I have heard that even the dullest ones can becaome the brightest once they reach maturity.

It all depends...
I've seen dull-no color dragons turn into outrageous adults and I've seen "screaming" babies dull out completely. Typically, in babies all from one clutch, I'd bet on the more colorful ones, but you never know! Best guesses come if you are familiar with the genetics and have raised babies from the same bloodline before. And sandfires do tend to take time to color up.
Fun, fun, fun!
