Snake bitten by Rat?

JohnRI Oct 11, 2009 08:24 PM

First off I tried searching the forums on this topic with no luck with my search criteria.

During my weekly feeding I noticed that the my pewter recieved a minor bite. It is located below his lower lip near the jaw line. He is still eating and drinking water fine, but I did notice a little swelling. The bite itself is just a quick nip, no gash or spewing blood.

My question is should I just keep an eye on him? Keep him clean and if swelling increases bring him to a vet?

The swelling doesnt seem to be affecting breathing or any thing.

Also thanks goes out to everyone that gave me advice on ridding mites from my collection.

Keep watch, put some antibiotic ointment on it, and take it to the vet if it gets worse.

if the bite is on the outside of his mouth you can put NON PAIN RELIEVING neosporin. if its on the inside of its mouth i would just leave it be unless the swelling gets worse. then go to the vet

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Well thanks for the advice, the bite is on the outside of his mouth just below the lower left jaw bone. I checked on him before leaving for work. Its swollen only if you looking for it, at a quick glance its not there. I used not pain relieving neospaurin this morning just a dab.
