stinky, runny stool

verdeojos May 25, 2003 12:19 PM

Hello. My beardie is around seven months old and is about 12 inches long (snout to tail). He is very active and alert, is a cricket-holic, enjoys bell peppers, winter squash, snow peas, snap beans, and ignores leafy greens (allthough I offer them regularly). We have long drinks from the sink about every two to three days. He is still living on paper towels in a 10 gallon aquarium (I have a new cage for him which we are slowly introducing him to). His temp at the basking spot is 105-115. Ok, I believe that I have covered all the major factors in his life. So, what could be causing incredably stinky, runny stool? The skin around the edges of the top of his body is rather wrinkled too lately. Is that normal for a growing beardie? He is still active, but I don't want to wait too long. I really would appriciate your help, Gryphon means the world to me. Thanks,
Sarah

Sounds like he could have parasites. I would take a stool sample to your vet to check for parasites. Also, I suggest only feeding him leafy greens, such as collard greens, mustard greens, dandelions, enchive, escarole etc. What you are feeding now shouldn't be offered as a stable just more a 'garnesh' ontop of his greens. Since he only wants to eat them I would cut them out altogether to get him eat the more healthy greens.

Thanks, Gryphon and I both appriciate it! I will get one to a vet on Teusday to check things out. As for greens, I will try removing his tastey treats all together for a while. He is rather spoiled little guy. Thanks again!
