i have a pair, this year I produced 6 babies, they are all sold by now, i really do not know why they are not popular, they are not as colorfull as Brazilian but they are great pets, like them as i like Colombian, Brazilian and Insular
. I used to breed Argentinians. I keep only one of them as a pet now. They are really sweet pets. They are easier for a beginner to keep than Brazilians. They do fine with temperatures and humidity about midway between typical colubrid and Brazilian Rainbow requirements. They usually do not get too big with most adults 3.5 to 4.5 feet long. I did have one wc imported female that was almost 5.5 feet long though. I had several litters of babies from two different females and had problems with some of the babies. They were small and delicate and some were slow to start feeding. I suspect my breeder male was genetically inferior as other breeders report their baby alvarezi to be hardy.
