Captive Hatched vs WC

rottenweiler9 Oct 16, 2009 09:54 AM

The question is more about the worms and diseases. If somthing is Captive Hatched, I am wondering how it is possible for it to have worms and other things associated with WC. Is it because they are around WC animals that this happens after they are hatched or does this happen in the egg since it is from two WC parents. I know this is a pretty stupid question but it has me perplexed right now.

Thank you

A real captive hatched will be parasite free, in the case you may be wondering about, it was a sales tactic, actually wild caught.
Most captive born, captive bred, farmed, etc etc etc are all wild caught being sold (misrepresented) as something else to either sell it faster, or get a higher price for it.
Keep in mind there are not that many people really breeding monitors, if it sounds to good to be true, 99% of the times it is.
WC can live in captivity just fine and be healthy, but they stress easier, and are more sensitive to their environment.

Thank you. Would you recommend if you got a Sav or somthing like that, to take it to the vets to get the shots and deworm, since they would be kept around my collection?

No. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That's with the assumption that you're gonna quarrantine it for awhile & not just throw it in with another monitor right off the bat.

Later!
