Cricket bedding...is this ok?

iso Sep 17, 2003 04:23 PM

I was using oatmeal as a bedding for my crix.

I was wondering if birdseed would be better? I can buy it cheaper (huge bulk) and is all grains and nuts (so if they eat their bedding it would be more diverse than oatmeal.

Also it tends to not mold and has a nice smell.

Any problems with bird seed?

bird seed actually does mold and quite badly at that when it gets damp/wet. It also attracts grain moths and weevils and other pests that you don't want infesting your house. The most simple bedding to use for crickets is paper towels or newspaper.
