Stripe Applegates and Stripe Dyer

KerryBarr Oct 18, 2009 08:58 PM

Hello,

A few years back, I purchased a trio of "Envy Stock" Applegate and Stripe Dyer Gophers from Nokturnel Tom and it paid off big time!

The trio that I purchased was:

1.0 Applegate het Dyer possible het Stripe
0.1 Striped Dyer possible het Applegate
0.1 Dyer het Applegate possible het Stripe *I did not breed her this year as she was too small**

The female Stripe Dyer had 5 eggs but only 3 hatched. They were a "Striped Dyer" and 2 Striped Applegates shown in the pictures!!

Pretty good odds, huh!!!

But, I have a question regarding the Striped Dyer.. The baby Striped Dyer has "purple", but the female adult Striped Dyer has "green".. My thoughts are that the baby would be a Stripe Dyergate, but would love to get any clarification.

Thanks for looking and appreciate your feedback!

I'll let someone with a better understanding of annectens genetics comment of your offspring but I must say, those are kickin' Bro! Thanks for sharing the pics.

Those are beautiful. Jason could probably tell you what they would technically be classed as (other than awesome annectens). Keep turnini' 'em out. Anxious to see what your opther female produces once she gets size.

Well sometime Dyers start out purple and then they turn green with age. I have several that have done that some thing. I dont know why they turn green. Its funny that some do and some dont. My only thought would be, Bechtel and or Limburg Albino are known to be in the bloodline of Dyers. Maybe the green ones are double albino, Bechtel Albino and Dyer Albino. Thats could be why they are less common.
I have breed Dyer to Dyer and produced T-albino before.

Another thing these ARE PURE ANNECTAN. There is no catenifer/pacific gopher in this bloodline.
I bride my self in keeping pure animals!

Again Striping in Annectans/San Diegos is a simple recessive trait.
Striping in Catenifer/Pacific is Co-Dominate.

It took me 7 years from scratch to produce a Striped Albino Applegate.

Anyways great looking animals bro and congrats on producing sweet animals.

Hey Jason,

Thanks for the feedback on the various colorations of the Dyer and also explaining the history of the San Diego Striping... It is very helpful!

Thanks again!
