Breeding questions on CRB

zactell Oct 20, 2009 02:02 AM

I cant find information on how big both the male and the female should be before I try breeding them.

The only info I find is about BRB, maybe it´s the same size that counts ??

Mattias,
...Colombian Rainbows mature earlier and smaller than Brazilian Rainbows. Females need to weigh a kilogram or a little more and males can be smaller.

Could you explain a little about how you keep your columbians, ie temp, humidity etc. I think nearly all rainbow boa care sheets, are pretty much generically geared towards brazilians.

cheers

Dave,
...I keep them like I keep my Brazilians. They are able to tolerate higher and lower temperature and lower humidity than Brazilians.

Thanks for the answer. The female has still some weight to catch up then
It´s the light female that we are talking about now, the dark one is a normal CRB and we are trying to see if she is only light or if she is hiding something...

Mattias,
...She definitely has something going on. Hard to tell if it is anerythrism (is that a word?) or hypomelanism or something else. You may be able to get some growth on her over the next four or five months and cool and breed them late.
Good luck,
Jeff

The dark female on the pict. is a monsterfemale.

Mattias,
....2 kilograms is a typical weight for an adult female. Really big ones are 2.5 to 3 kilograms.
