"Lizard Kings" on Nova now - on Monitors

Nova special on WHYY on monitors called "Lizard Kings". Not sure exactly what it's like, but looks promising. Part of it focuses on research around their sociability. Check it out!

I saw it too! Loved it. Thought it was super cool they were trained to respond to the ball on the end of the stick. Wonder what else they can be trained to respond to?

That was a great show very informative.I always knew the I had albigs. were smart but wow they may have actually been playing dumb.My indicus & salvator would walk around the house & could reliably be found in the same areas during their rest. I don't keep varanids now but I'll get more varanids when I have space.

I just received the DVD from the PBS website for around 25 bucks shipped...I love it. We have a mated pair of Indicus, a Savanna, and a Timor...which,by the way, is an EXCELLANT choice for the fellow who wants a small monitor. "Zippy" is adorable. Our Large monitors are also given "house privelges" from time to time and like yours, they "know what time it is".GOD BLESS...

P.S. Our male Indicus, Twilight, comes to me when I call him after opening the door to his huge enclosure. He usually heads straight for the bathroom and into the tub for a swim, after which he squeezes under the door (maybe an inch and a half clearance) and heads to the laundry area at the other end of the house to root around in the laundry...like clockwork. GOD BLESS...
