Color change in pastels?

snake_girl85 Oct 21, 2009 09:52 AM

I recently got an '09 pastel BCI, and she seems "muddier" than some I've seen. Her pattern is very crisp around the tail, but patchy elsewhere. Do they undergo any sort of color change as they get older? As in do they clean up a little bit? I don't care too much either way, she's fine the way she is, and she was a decent price, I'm just curious...

Thanks!

Yes, most pastels will change as they get older, the degree to which they change depends on the line of pastels they come from.

Most pastels I've owned usually color up around the 2-3ft mark. Any black flecking other than their baby grey's will most likely be permanent beauty marks.

As an example, here are before and after pics of the pastels I produced earlier this year...

Just fantastic.

My girl has only had two sheds. Do you think there is any chance she'll colour up any where near as nice as yours?

Thanks for the kind words. Hard for me to tell without see it in person. If shes kept in ideal condition you will see her colors if any come through within a few sheds.

Nice pattern and killer tail...nice pickup
