i wish i could of got a better pic of this fish, dont know what it was but it was atleast 7foot ong jet black
with the most intense red coloring inbetween the giant scales









good thing my camera died or else there would beso many more pics lol

Tim,
...The very large fish is Arapaima gigas. They are the largest scaled freshwater fish. They are interesting primitive fish. They come to the surface to gulp air like Tarpon and they are mouth brooders. When smaller they are lighter colored.
...I have not been to Jax Zoo in quite awhile. My friend Carl Betz who is a co-author of Venomous Snakes of the SE US works in the reptile department of the zoo.

lol nothing like forgetting about work to look at zoo pics.

I love the zoo as well and this was my first trip to the jax zoo it was pretty nice tho i think i like the milwaukee zoo back home better lol

Thanks Zack, I have been pretty pleased with the camera i picked up not to long ago. I t is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290 12.1 megapixels. Has some nice options and is quite easy to use. The cost wasnt to bad roughly about $200 after tax and everything

takes some darn good pics, I'm wanting a DSLR tho, lol, I'm wanting eather the Canon Reble Xsi 12.2mp or the Nikon D5000 with 12.3mp which is probly why I dont have a good camera, I cant afford what i want.

LOL i hear ya. I would die for a super nice DSLR with all the goodies, bells, and whistles lol but that is a LONG way away so i had to find something to keep my happy until that day long down the road.
